The Qbox is the all-in-one audio line tester ideal for applications such as live sound, maintenance, installation work - anywhere audio runs down a cable. The Qbox includes a microphone, a speaker, a test tone generator, outputs for standard headphones, a 1/4" jack for line-in or a 2k Ohm (telephone) earpiece out, plus voltage presence LEDs for confirming phantom or intercom power. A handy clip attaches the Qbox to your belt or equipment rack.
For an instant hands-free intercom, simply plug in headphones and hook up one Qbox on each end of a line.
Use it to monitor a standard 3-wire intercom feed or talkback from the main audio console. The Qbox can quick-check dynamic mics without firing up the entire system. It provides a handy mic or line-level tone for activating a signal path or identifying a specific cable in a pile
of cable ends. Powered by a single standard 9V alkaline battery and housed in rugged ABS, the Qbox is light yet able to withstand the wear and tear of fieldwork.
Aesthetics
Probably the most attractive product Whirlwind has ever made, but that doesn't mean it's not as tough and durable as the rest of Whirlwind's products. Here's a quick breakdown of all the buttons on the top of the Qbox:
Attenuator Switch - selects output level at the XLRs and unbalanced 1/4 inch jack
Tone/Internal Mic Switch - selects source sent to XLRs and unbalanced 1/4" jack
Pin 2 and Pin 3 LEDs - sense phantom or intercom power presence.
Volume Control - adjusts the signal level to either the headphones or the speaker
Stereo Phones Jack - allows the use of stereo or mono headphones and disconnects the speaker
XLR Jacks - located on the front of the unit with 1/4" Tip Sleeve Jack wired to Pin 2 and Pin 1. Wired parallel

Next, line up your Qbox's built-in microphone to the headphone input on the arm of the seat.
